Coaching Skills for Effective Leadership

About the programme

This intensive leadership development programme is designed to equip managers and team  leaders with practical coaching skills and behaviours. Aligned with EMCC Global* quality  standards, it focuses on enhancing people development, performance, and creating a culture of  effective leadership.

Programme approach

  • Foundational coaching theory with hands-on practice
  • Tools and models to apply in the workplace
  • Peer coaching sessions, group exercises, role-plays 
  • Resources and materials are provided including guides, templates, and reference 
  • Tools to support development after the programme
  • Follow-up sessions after the training to support application

Programme details*

  • Duration: 24 hours of training, delivered over 4 to 6 weeks
  • Format: a blend of in-person (Cyprus) and live online sessions
  • Post-training support (optional): individual or group coaching/mentoring over 4 months
  • Group Size: minimum 6, maximum 18 participants
  • Language: Available in Greek or English
  • Eligible for HRDA subsidy (ΑνΑΔ)

  • Facilitate meaningful and solution-focused dialogues

Coaching as a Leadership Habit

  • Embed coaching behaviours into your leadership style
  • Recognize and utilize informal coaching moments
  • Encourage continuous learning and development within your team

Solution-Focused Conversations

  • Guide teams towards actionable outcomes
  • Utilise scaling techniques to measure progress
  • Maintain focus on goals and solutions during discussions

Insight & Learning

  • Promote reflective practices for continuous improvement
  • Leverage feedback as a tool for growth
  • Support team members in developing their own learning paths

Programme objectives

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and benefits of using coaching as a leadership approach
  • Distinguish coaching from mentoring, managing, and training
  • Identify appropriate situations for coaching within the workplace
  • Understand the impact of values, beliefs, and assumptions on coaching behaviour
  • Recognise common barriers to effective communication and how to manage them
  • Identify potential biases and understand their effect on leadership decisions
  • Demonstrate active listening and the ability to stay present in conversations
  • Ask purposeful, open, and reflective questions to encourage thinking
  • Facilitate structured coaching conversations with clarity and confidence
  • Support goal-setting and action planning with employees
  • Give constructive feedback that encourages growth
  • Adapt their leadership communication style 
  • Practise coaching in realistic scenarios and reflect on areas of improvement
  • Show curiosity and openness during conversations with team members
  • Adopt a non-judgemental, empathetic approach as a leader-coach
  • Commit to creating a psychologically safe space for employees
